About the Project PAWS
This race is organized by high school students raising money for a nonprofit that trains and places service dogs with people who have physical disabilities and veterans. The course is a run-walk, so the field tends to be a mix of paces, and the atmosphere reflects the cause: people who showed up because they care about it.
Community vendors and sponsors set up at the event, so there is some activity beyond the race itself. The student organizers are the faces of the morning, which gives it a different feel from a professionally run event.
