About the Pocahontas Trail Festival
The race takes place entirely on trails inside Pocahontas State Park, looping through forested terrain on a course that has been recently redesigned. The half marathon extends onto newer trails with solid footing that the organizers describe as very runnable. Both distances share the same opening loop before splitting, so early miles have company from the full field.
The staging area sits on a large grass field next to the boat launch, reached by following the park road past the entrance station. Packet pickup runs race morning at the staging area. There is a parking fee to enter the park, and cash moves you through the entrance faster than a card. Bathrooms are available near the start and finish.
