About the Phillips Phun Run
The course starts and finishes at the local junior-senior high school and takes runners through a mix of streets and trails winding around Mount Carmel. The terrain shifts as you go, and the surrounding landscape gives the route a character specific to this corner of coal country. This race is part of the Anthracite Running Series, so you may see familiar faces if you run others in that circuit.
There is a free kids run in the school parking lot, which makes the start area busier and louder than a solo road race. The race benefits the local community center, so the crowd that turns out tends to have a stake in the event beyond just finishing time.
