About the Pet Rescue Run/Walk 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk
The course runs entirely on grass and dirt trails through Columbus County Park. Tree roots and rocks turn up underfoot, there is one noticeable climb and descent, and wet weather can leave things muddy. Dogs on leashes are welcome alongside you, which shapes the feel of the morning. The race benefits animal rescues and was started to honor a specific person's love of animals.
Check-in runs the morning of the race before the start. After finishing, there are water and snacks from a local real estate team, and cupcakes on hand to mark the occasion. Runners who bring pet food, treats, or supplies earn entries into a prize drawing held after awards.

Finish-Time Stats
Going by the 2026 results, this is a small, friendly field, and the spread of finish times is wide, so this is a mostly recreational race rather than one for club runners.

The Pet Rescue Run/Walk 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk has been held every year since at least 2024. That is as far back as RunSignup's records for this race go, so it may well be older.
How we calculate these stats: RunSesh calculates these figures from the most recent published results of past editions, sourced from RunSignup. We show aggregates only: field size, winning and median times, and the cutoff. We never publish individual finisher tables. Last updated Jul 27, 2026.
