About the PECAN GROVE TURKEY TROT

This is a Thanksgiving-morning race held in Pecan Grove, with chip-timed options for competitive and non-competitive runners alongside a kids' trot and an untimed adoption awareness walk. The event is organized by The Thankful Ones, and the entry fees go directly toward grants that help local foster children and adoptive families cover the legal costs of adoption.

The post-race area has a kids' inflatable zone, a DJ, and a vendor row with food and drinks. Prizes go to top finishers across the age categories, and the atmosphere around the start and finish reflects the charity's focus on family.

Common Questions About the PECAN GROVE TURKEY TROT

Will I finish last at the PECAN GROVE TURKEY TROT?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 36:11, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:05:40, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the PECAN GROVE TURKEY TROT a good first 5K?

With 1,056 finishers there are runners at every pace, so you are never out on your own. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the PECAN GROVE TURKEY TROT?

The 5K winner ran 15:20 while the median finisher took 36:11. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
