About the Paving the Promise 5K

This is a charity race benefiting the Promise House, a faith-based transitional recovery home for women in the area. The race is put on by the local church community that supports the house, so the morning has a personal feel to it. You are running for something real, and people around you know it.

Packet pickup runs the evening before the race at Southwest Church, the same congregation that backs the Promise House. If you can make that window, it keeps race morning simple.

Common Questions About the Paving the Promise 5K

Will I finish last at the Paving the Promise 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 35:02, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:01:00, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Paving the Promise 5K a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (50 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Paving the Promise 5K?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 20:22 while the median finisher took 35:02. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
