About the Patrolman Samuel Irvin Legacy 5K Run/Walk
The course runs on the paved Kinkora Trail through Mansfield Twp. Park, moving between wooded stretches and open preserved farmland. It is a road-surface route on what sounds like a largely flat trail corridor, where the scenery changes as you go. The race honors a young patrolman and athlete lost to a rare heart condition, and that purpose is felt throughout the event.
Proceeds support student-athlete scholarships at a local high school and a foundation for law enforcement families, and the race also carries a mission to raise awareness of Brugada Syndrome. The Irvin and Santucci families organize it themselves, and that personal investment shows in how the event is described.
