About the 6th Annual Patriot Day 5K And 1 Mile Walk
The race takes place at Pleasanton River Park on an evening honoring first responders and those lost in the attacks. The park has a playground, a splash pad, and a skate park nearby, so there is plenty going on for anyone who comes out to watch or wait. The atmosphere is shaped by the occasion, a ceremonial feel rather than a purely competitive one.
Packet pickup happens on race day at the park, opening before the evening start. There is a post-race spread of sausages on a stick, drinks, and entertainment. Proceeds from the event go to a local JROTC program, and awards are given out across a broad range of age categories for the run.
