About the ORRRC Turkey Hunt Map & Compass Challenge
This is an orienteering race, not a road race. You get a map and a compass, then head into George Rogers Clark Park to find as many checkpoints as you can before time runs out. Controls can be found in any order, so strategy matters as much as speed. The terrain is park land, and you are navigating on foot. Chip timing tracks your result.
Arrive well before the start. Registration opens at the park, and both online and in-person sign-up are available on race day. A practice course and a voluntary intro session run before the start, both at the race start area, making this approachable for first-timers. Loaner compasses and course maps are provided. No dogs, including pets, are permitted.
