About the ORRRC Tadmor 10k

The course runs through Taylorsville Metropark, tracing a route that passes close to where the town of Tadmor once stood before a catastrophic flood erased it more than a century ago. The park setting means trees, open space, and natural terrain rather than pavement and traffic. The race is put on by a local running club, and that shows in how it is organized.

Parking is at Kyle Park, a short distance from the start. Check-in uses a timing chip attached to your shoe, and the registration table is marked with a green tablecloth. The club suggests getting there with enough time to settle in and warm up before the start.

Common Questions About the ORRRC Tadmor 10k

Will I finish last at the ORRRC Tadmor 10k?

Almost certainly not. Half the 10K field finished slower than 51:01, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:27:43, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the ORRRC Tadmor 10k a good first 10K?

It is a small race (153 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 10K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the ORRRC Tadmor 10k?

The 10K winner ran 31:59 while the median finisher took 51:01. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
