About the Orland Park Turkey Trot

The course runs through streets, paths, and wooded areas near the Village Hall, so the surface shifts underfoot as you go. It is a cross-country style route, meaning you move between pavement and softer ground through the trees. The race starts at the Franklin Loebe Center on Thanksgiving morning, and the field tends to fill before the deadline.

Parking is split across several lots around the start area, and some of them close before the race begins and stay closed until well after the finish. The lot that stays open throughout is the one to use if you want to leave on your own schedule. Race-morning check-in is available for those who did not pick up their bib in advance.

Common Questions About the Orland Park Turkey Trot

Will I finish last at the Orland Park Turkey Trot?

Almost certainly not. Half the 2.5 Miles field finished slower than 28:14, and the last recorded finisher came in around 55:25, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Orland Park Turkey Trot a good first 2.5 Miles?

A field of 738 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 2.5 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Orland Park Turkey Trot?

The 2.5 Miles winner ran 14:40 while the median finisher took 28:14. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
