About the Old Town Rudolph Run

The course runs through the streets of Old Town Leander, starting and finishing at the intersection of two main roads near the heart of the neighborhood. The terrain is road the whole way, with no meaningful elevation change. Strollers are welcome, and leashed dogs can run alongside you.

Packet pickup is at the Leander Chamber of Commerce the two evenings before the race. There is no morning-of pickup unless you are traveling from out of town. Parking is in school district lots surrounding Old Town, with street parking available as well. The lots are not reachable from the main highway, so the directions in the race info are worth reading before you go.

Common Questions About the Old Town Rudolph Run

Will I finish last at the Old Town Rudolph Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 35:36, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:01:38, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Old Town Rudolph Run a good first 5K?

A field of 481 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Old Town Rudolph Run?

The 5K winner ran 15:40 while the median finisher took 35:36. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
