About the OHIOGUIDESTONE Promise Run

The course runs around Wallace Lake, inside the Cleveland Metroparks. The terrain is park-style, the kind you find along a Metroparks valley, with trees close and water nearby for much of the route. Strollers and leashed dogs are welcome, so the crowd at the start tends to include people who are not there to race hard.

Parking is in the recreation area lot off Valley Parkway, with overflow options nearby if that lot fills. Packet pickup is available in Berea the week before race morning. A smoothie stand and a lakeside grille are at the finish, along with an awards ceremony for the top finishers.

Common Questions About the OHIOGUIDESTONE Promise Run

Will I finish last at the OHIOGUIDESTONE Promise Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 41:59, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:03:25, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the OHIOGUIDESTONE Promise Run a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (141 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the OHIOGUIDESTONE Promise Run?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 21:42 while the median finisher took 41:59. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
