About the Officer Shawn Silvera Memorial 5K
This race honors a Lino Lakes police officer killed in the line of duty, and the connection to his story runs through the whole morning. Proceeds support mental health services for veterans and first responders. There is also a team competition built around first responder groups, with a traveling trophy on the line for the top finishing teams.
A vendor fair runs alongside the race, drawing businesses and organizations that serve the first responder and veteran community. The atmosphere reflects the cause, with active and former public safety personnel making up a visible part of the field alongside civilian runners and families.
