About the Ocean Running Club's Seaside Half Marathon and 5K

The course runs along the boardwalk in Seaside Park, with the Atlantic Ocean alongside for much of the route. The half marathon does a couple of loops, so you pass through the same stretch more than once and get the ocean view both times. The terrain is flat road and boardwalk the whole way. Spectators and volunteers are spread along the course.

All bib pickup is on race morning at the Sawmill Café on the boardwalk, starting early before the first wave goes off. Parking meters are running on race day, so bring change or a card. The start and finish are at the same spot, which makes it easy to find your people before and after.

Common Questions About the Ocean Running Club's Seaside Half Marathon and 5K

Will I finish last at the Ocean Running Club's Seaside Half Marathon and 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 13.1 Miles field finished slower than 2:11:24, and the last recorded finisher came in around 3:15:09, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Ocean Running Club's Seaside Half Marathon and 5K a good first 13.1 Miles?

A field of 430 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 13.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Ocean Running Club's Seaside Half Marathon and 5K?

The 13.1 Miles winner ran 1:18:25 while the median finisher took 2:11:24. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
