About the Pine Beach 5k & 1 Mile Run AND 5k RUCK

The course runs through Pine Beach, a small beachside town, on roads that stay mostly flat the whole way. There is a ruck division alongside the run, which gives the start line an unusual mix of gear. A couple of water stops are out on the course, with more water at the finish. Awards go to overall and age group leaders, and results post as they come in.

The race starts at Vista Park, where bibs can be picked up from early morning. Parking is available at two spots in town: the lots near Pine Beach Chapel and the lots along the water on Riverside. Side street parking works too. Port-o-johns are in the park at the start but not along the route.

Common Questions About the Pine Beach 5k & 1 Mile Run AND 5k RUCK

Will I finish last at the Pine Beach 5k & 1 Mile Run AND 5k RUCK?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 30:32, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:04:46, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Pine Beach 5k & 1 Mile Run AND 5k RUCK a good first 5K?

A field of 305 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Pine Beach 5k & 1 Mile Run AND 5k RUCK?

The 5K winner ran 15:51 while the median finisher took 30:32. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
