About the 12th Annual Ocean Commotion 5K Run/Walk and 5K Virtual Challenge

The course runs along ocean-side trails, away from road traffic, with the water close enough that you can hear it. Dogs are welcome to race alongside their people, and there are prizes for top canine finishers as well as human ones. The race benefits Marine Mammals of Maine, and the organization has information booths set up on-site about their stranding response work.

Race-morning activities start before the gun, with youth programming, a kids fun run, and a raffle that runs through most of the event. The atmosphere is more like a conservation gathering than a pure racing scene, with marine education activities woven in alongside the competitive side.
