About the OBX 2026 TURKEY TROT
The OBX Turkey Trot runs on Thanksgiving morning in Southern Shores and raises money for a local nonprofit that introduces kids to running. The courses are untimed, so there is no pressure to race. The children's event goes first, and families line the course to watch. Top finishers in the main race take home a Thanksgiving pie.
There is a hot pancake breakfast at the finish. Teams and families can compete for a trophy awarded to the largest registered group, which has become a tradition of its own. Packet pickup details and parking are not something covered here, but the start area has the feel of a neighborhood gathering more than a road race.
