About the Nun Run 5K

The Nun Run is a pre-Thanksgiving 5K with a turkey trot spirit to it. The post-race scene is worth sticking around for: there are vendors, a raffle, and food prepared by a student agricultural program connected to the race's host organization. Age group awards are part of the finish-line setup as well.

Packet pickup runs the evening before the race and again on race morning before the start. Registration stays open through race-morning check-in, though arriving early gives you more breathing room before things get moving.

Finish-Time Stats

Going by the 2025 results, this is a small, friendly field, and the spread of finish times is wide, so this is a mostly recreational race rather than one for club runners.

Common Questions About the Nun Run 5K

Will I finish last at the Nun Run 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 42:35, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:06:21, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Nun Run 5K a good first 5K?

A field of 234 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Nun Run 5K?

The 5K winner ran 18:09 while the median finisher took 42:35. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.

Where can I train for the Nun Run 5K?

Join a local run club. Run Temecula, Old Town Temecula Run Club and others in Temecula welcome runners of all paces, and a weekly group run is the most reliable way to hold a training block together.
