About the Nitro Turkey
The race takes place at Point Pinole on Thanksgiving morning, which gives it a particular character: costumes are common, and the crowd skews toward families out for a holiday tradition rather than a tuned-up field chasing a PR. Walkers are as much a part of the morning as runners, and there is a short kids' race where the children run against a character called the Nitro Turkey.
