About the New Hope Turkey Trot
The course starts on a former cross country course, running along a tree line where deer are sometimes spotted, with interpretive nature stations along the way. Shorter-distance runners turn back before things get technical. Those going the full distance push through a seasonal campground, cross a spillway, then hit gravel and dirt trails near a lake with a steep climb and a rocky descent that demands attention underfoot.
Packet pickup runs the evening before the race at a local church in Smithville. Parking is available near the soccer and baseball fields at the recreation area, with overflow across the highway at another church.
