About the New Beginnings Turkey Trot 5k
This is a Thanksgiving morning race on a simple out-and-back route. The course leaves the Sheridan Community Center heading east out of town, reaches a measured turnaround point, and comes back the same way. The road is flat and straightforward, the kind of course where you can see other runners most of the way.
The race starts and finishes at the Community Center, which doubles as the gathering spot after. A local resale shop that mentors individuals with special needs receives the race's proceeds. Pumpkin pie is part of the awards spread for age-group winners, and the first finisher overall gets crowned Top Turkey.
