About the 3rd Annual Neg Mawon 5k Walk/Run
The race is named for the Nèg Mawon, a Haitian symbol of freedom and perseverance, and that spirit is woven into the morning. The course runs through Francis D. Martini Memorial Shell Park along Truman Parkway, and the event doubles as a cultural celebration tied to the mission of supporting Haitian and Haitian-American youth through education and scholarships.
Registration opens early on race morning, with an opening ceremony and warm-up before the start. Pre- and post-race refreshments are part of the day, along with a community gathering that leans into Haitian heritage as much as the run itself.
