About the Navajo Code Talker 10K

The course rolls out from the Navajo Nation Museum, loops around the grounds, then climbs a trail toward a dam before descending past the tribal government buildings and circling back through a park to the finish. The terrain mixes trail and pavement, with one real ascent in the first half and a gradual return. Mornings here can be cool or warm, and afternoon storms are possible, so watch the forecast.

Packet pickup is at the Museum parking area on race morning before the start. Parking is available on site. The event is cupless, so bring your own hydration vessel. There is food at the start, and a shorter, non-competitive option runs alongside the main course for those who want it.

Common Questions About the Navajo Code Talker 10K

Will I finish last at the Navajo Code Talker 10K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 10K field finished slower than 1:19:59, and the last recorded finisher came in around 2:22:36, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Navajo Code Talker 10K a good first 10K?

A field of 364 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 10K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Navajo Code Talker 10K?

The 10K winner ran 40:08 while the median finisher took 1:19:59. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
