About the 12th Annual Native Breast Cancer Awareness Walk/Run

The course runs through Elk Grove Regional Park, a flat open park setting well suited to walkers and runners sharing the same route. Runners head out first, walkers follow shortly after, and the two groups largely share the same path before returning to the event area together.

The gathering around the finish is substantial. There is a fun zone with carnival games and a jump house, health booths, a mammography van for onsite screenings, live entertainment, and lunch served later in the afternoon. Packet pickup the evening before is at a tribal warehouse a short distance from the park, with parking in front.

Common Questions About the 12th Annual Native Breast Cancer Awareness Walk/Run

Will I finish last at the 12th Annual Native Breast Cancer Awareness Walk/Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 1.4 Miles field finished slower than 37:36, and the last recorded finisher came in around 49:57, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the 12th Annual Native Breast Cancer Awareness Walk/Run a good first 1.4 Miles?

A field of 248 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 1.4 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the 12th Annual Native Breast Cancer Awareness Walk/Run?

The 1.4 Miles winner ran 10:47 while the median finisher took 37:36. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
