About the MYRTLE MILE

The Myrtle Mile runs at Grand Lake at Market Common, a planned district with paved paths and open green space. The course starts and finishes near a lakeside shelter, so the surroundings stay visible throughout. It is a short, flat route that draws both runners chasing the competitive heat and families pushing strollers on the fun run side.

Packet pickup is race morning at the same shelter where the start line is set up, so there is no separate trip the day before. Post-race refreshments are out after you finish. The race benefits Ryzon Refuge, a local nonprofit that supports mothers and children experiencing homelessness in the area.

Common Questions About the MYRTLE MILE

Will I finish last at the MYRTLE MILE?

Almost certainly not. Half the race field finished slower than 10:36, and the last recorded finisher came in around 21:50, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the MYRTLE MILE a good first race?

It is a small race (48 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first race, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the MYRTLE MILE?

The race winner ran 5:01 while the median finisher took 10:36. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
