About the 17th Annual Myrtle Beach Mini Marathon & Coastal 5K

The course runs along the oceanfront for a substantial stretch, with both distances starting on a numbered avenue and finishing on the boardwalk with the ocean in front of you. The road is flat the whole way, which makes this one of the faster courses you will find on the coast. The shorter distance finishes the same way, same view.

After the race, Grand Strand Brewing Company hosts the post-race gathering, with pizza, beer, soda, and smoothies on hand. There is also water, Gatorade, and snacks at the finish line itself. Bib pickup is where you would flag any accessibility needs before the start.

Common Questions About the 17th Annual Myrtle Beach Mini Marathon & Coastal 5K

Will I finish last at the 17th Annual Myrtle Beach Mini Marathon & Coastal 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 13.1 Miles field finished slower than 2:13:36, and the last recorded finisher came in around 3:29:57, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the 17th Annual Myrtle Beach Mini Marathon & Coastal 5K a good first 13.1 Miles?

A field of 734 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 13.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the 17th Annual Myrtle Beach Mini Marathon & Coastal 5K?

The 13.1 Miles winner ran 1:08:30 while the median finisher took 2:13:36. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
