About the Murrysville Monster Trail Races
The course starts flat along the Westmoreland Heritage Trail before turning into Duff Park, and that easy opening stretch is a deliberate trick. Once the trail pitches upward into Duff Park, it gets rocky, rooty, and steep, climbing hard through single track before dropping sharply back down. The longer distance continues on into a second park, Pleasant Valley, adding more of the same.
The start and finish are at the Murrysville Community Center, and parking is on-site there. The course splits partway through, with a marshal and signage at the key junction, so new trail runners are not left guessing. Runners are encouraged to carry their own water for the early miles and the climb, since water stops are spaced well apart.
