About the MPower Youth Running Festival

This is a youth-only road race held at a high school campus in Farmington, with several distances scaled to different ages. The shortest option loops the track in front of spectators, while the longer courses go out and back on closed roads. Trophies go to top finishers across age groups, and local high school runners participate as mentors.

The races are staggered through the morning, with the youngest kids going first and the older distance runners closing things out. Check-in for each race opens separately, so arrival time depends on which distance your child is running. Courses are closed to traffic, which makes it easy for families to spread out and watch.

Common Questions About the MPower Youth Running Festival

Will I finish last at the MPower Youth Running Festival?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 31:21, and the last recorded finisher came in around 51:04, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the MPower Youth Running Festival a good first 5K?

It is a small race (168 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the MPower Youth Running Festival?

The 5K winner ran 19:46 while the median finisher took 31:21. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
