About the Mountaineer 5K
The course starts on a school track, does a short loop, then heads out onto a canal path for most of the distance before returning to the track to finish. Canal running tends to be flat and open, with a straightforward out-and-back feel. The race is organized by a school parent-teacher group and benefits the school directly, which shapes the morning.
Packet pickup is available the evening before at the school, with a race-morning option as a backup for those coming in the day of. Parking is in a nearby lot or on surrounding streets. There is food and drinks at the finish, and age group awards are handmade by ceramics students from a local high school.
