About the Mountain Heritage Days 5K Walk/Run
The course runs through a university campus on a mix of pavement and gravel paths, looping past residence halls, a dining hall, a bookstore, and back to the science building where it starts. There is a water fountain plaza near the midpoint, and the route uses a cul-de-sac turnaround before threading back through the heart of campus.
After the race, the Mountain Heritage Days festival is a short distance away, reachable on foot or by shuttle. The festival is a separate event celebrating Southern Appalachian culture, with live music, craft vendors, food, and demonstrations. Admission to the festival is free.
