About the Mother Earth Brewing Ironclad Half-Marathon & 5k
The course runs through Kinston's historic downtown, designed to show off the character of the city rather than take runners somewhere anonymous. The streets here have real texture, older buildings, local color, and the kind of surroundings that make a course feel like it belongs somewhere specific rather than cut from a generic road-race template.
The race is organized by a local nonprofit, and the proceeds go back into the community. After the run, the area around downtown has independent restaurants, shops, and the brewery that titles the race, so there is reason to stay and walk around rather than head straight to the car.

Finish-Time Stats
Going by the 2025 results, this is a decent-sized field, and the spread of finish times is wide, so this is a mostly recreational race rather than one for club runners.

The Mother Earth Brewing Ironclad Half-Marathon & 5k has been held every year since at least 2016. That is as far back as RunSignup's records for this race go, so it may well be older.
How we calculate these stats: RunSesh calculates these figures from the most recent published results of past editions, sourced from RunSignup. We show aggregates only: field size, winning and median times, and the cutoff. We never publish individual finisher tables. Last updated Jul 27, 2026.
