About the Montgomery County Interfaith 5K

The course runs at the Maryland Soccerplex, a large sports campus in Boyds. The terrain there is open and mostly flat, the kind of ground you find around turf fields and wide paved paths. The race draws teams from several local faith communities, so the start area has a festival feel, with groups arriving together and sticking around afterward.

Packet pickup is available the afternoon before the race at a running store in Rockville, with a second window at the Soccerplex on race morning. Teams that register together can claim a table in the festival area near the finish.

Common Questions About the Montgomery County Interfaith 5K

Will I finish last at the Montgomery County Interfaith 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 38:04, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:19:21, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Montgomery County Interfaith 5K a good first 5K?

A field of 332 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Montgomery County Interfaith 5K?

The 5K winner ran 16:40 while the median finisher took 38:04. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
