About the Monster Mash Dash 5k
The Monster Mash Dash runs through Murphy as a costume-friendly event, so you will see plenty of creative outfits on the course alongside runners in plain gear. The race benefits Cherokee County Shop With A Cop, a program that pairs local kids with police officers and other public safety members for a holiday shopping trip.
What the entry fees go toward is specific: children get to shop for the holidays, each one paired with an officer, a firefighter, an EMS worker, or a wildlife officer. That purpose gives the morning a slightly different feel than a race that exists for its own sake.
