About the Mind over Miles

Mind over Miles is built around mental health awareness and veterans' suicide prevention, with roots in a board member's endurance challenge that brought the concept to life as a community race. The shorter distance is chip timed; the longer walk covers a single mile untimed, so the field pulls in people across a wide range of ability and purpose.

Packet pickup opens race morning before the start, with pre-registration also available beforehand. Dogs are welcome on course, though the organizers ask that leashed pups line up toward the back. Post-race refreshments are on hand at the finish.

Common Questions About the Mind over Miles

Will I finish last at the Mind over Miles?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 29:22, and the last recorded finisher came in around 51:44, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Mind over Miles a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (63 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Mind over Miles?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 17:45 while the median finisher took 29:22. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
