About the Miles in the Maize
The course winds through a corn maze and a pumpkin patch, with the surrounding fall landscape doing most of the decorating. This is trail running in the loosest sense, more dirt path and farm terrain than technical singletrack, and the shorter distance option makes it accessible to younger kids running alongside adults. Costumes are common enough that there are awards for them.
Packet pickup runs the afternoon before at a running shop in North Liberty. Race morning pickup opens early at Colony Acres, which is also where the race starts.
