About the Mile Madness Endurance Run

The course is a short loop around a pond on a mix of trail and paved path inside a regional park east of downtown Auburn. Because the loop is compact, you pass the aid station and the crowd on every lap, which means you are never far from food, music, or someone cheering. The event runs across several days, with options ranging from a few hours to multi-day ultras.

The UltraLounge is a shaded hub where crews and family can hang out between laps, with snacks, music, and a s'mores setup. On-site massage therapists are available during the event. A bib raffle runs throughout the race, with gear prizes drawn at intervals, so there is something happening in camp even when you are between laps.

Common Questions About the Mile Madness Endurance Run

Will I finish last at the Mile Madness Endurance Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 50 Miles field finished slower than 21:59:12, and the last recorded finisher came in around 24:05:39, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Mile Madness Endurance Run a good first 50 Miles?

It is a small race (29 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 50 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Mile Madness Endurance Run?

The 50 Miles winner ran 9:30:20 while the median finisher took 21:59:12. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
