About the Midnight Special 5K

The course follows a paved trail west toward Wildwood Metropark and back, starting from the rear parking lot of Patron Saints Brewery. The trail is unlit, so runners come equipped with lights of their own. No roads to cross, and the footing is straightforward; the challenge is mostly the hour.

Packet pickup happens a few days early at a local running store in Perrysburg, with race-day pickup available at the brewery on the night of the race. Afterward, water and snacks are out at the finish, and adult beverages are available for purchase from Patron Saints. The brewery is the gathering spot once the run is done.

Common Questions About the Midnight Special 5K

Will I finish last at the Midnight Special 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 32:35, and the last recorded finisher came in around 54:29, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Midnight Special 5K a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (104 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Midnight Special 5K?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 16:28 while the median finisher took 32:35. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
