About the Mid-South Races for Hope Marathon, Half-Marathon and 5K

The course runs out and back from Wynne Baptist Church, passing through part of the historic district before heading out along Crowley's Ridge through harvest fields. The fall foliage along the ridge gives the route a distinct seasonal feel, and the surroundings are openly rural the whole way. Aid stations are spaced generously, each stocked with fruit, snacks, Gatorade, and Vaseline.

After the finish, there is a traditional BBQ plate supper for runners and their families. Local restaurants also put together pasta specials during race weekend for those who want a pre-race meal.

Common Questions About the Mid-South Races for Hope Marathon, Half-Marathon and 5K

Will I finish last at the Mid-South Races for Hope Marathon, Half-Marathon and 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 26.2 Miles field finished slower than 4:11:17, and the last recorded finisher came in around 5:44:27, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Mid-South Races for Hope Marathon, Half-Marathon and 5K a good first 26.2 Miles?

It is a small race (20 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 26.2 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Mid-South Races for Hope Marathon, Half-Marathon and 5K?

The 26.2 Miles winner ran 2:52:34 while the median finisher took 4:11:17. That spread points to a relatively quick field, so expect a competitive front end.
