About the Mebane Dogwood Festival Family 5K

This is an evening race through downtown Mebane, held as part of the Dogwood Festival. Running at night through a downtown in full festival mode means live music, food vendors, and carnival rides are all going around you. The course carries USATF certification. A kids dash to a nearby elementary school and back runs just before the main race.

Packet pickup is available the evening before at a physical therapy office on Mebane Oaks Road, near a Lowes Foods. On race day, pickup opens at the start and finish area in front of Mebane Laundry and Dry Cleaners. Parking downtown is tight; an overflow lot on Center Street is an option worth knowing about before you drive in.

Common Questions About the Mebane Dogwood Festival Family 5K

Will I finish last at the Mebane Dogwood Festival Family 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 36:46, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:06:34, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Mebane Dogwood Festival Family 5K a good first 5K?

A field of 264 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Mebane Dogwood Festival Family 5K?

The 5K winner ran 17:05 while the median finisher took 36:46. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
