About the McKaig 5K Trail Race

The course changes every year, which the organizers are upfront about. Trails wind through woods, cross streams, and roll over hills, so expect uneven footing and real climbing. It is a genuine trail race, not a groomed path, and the terrain keeps it honest.

After the race, there is a chili cook-off where runners can taste and vote among the entries. A festival area with music and food fills out the morning. The race benefits a nature center, and the whole post-race scene is tied to that property.
