The course runs on an active airport runway, which makes it unlike almost any road race you have done before. The surface is smooth and wide, with no turns worth mentioning, and the whole thing sits below the surrounding landscape so the wind tends to stay out of it. It is flat in a way that most courses only claim to be.

Getting there requires a shuttle from an off-site parking lot to the race site, so the morning starts early and moves on a strict timeline. Race number pickup happens on race morning at a parking lot near a fire station on the airport's tech campus, and security into the restricted area requires a photo ID that matches the name on your race number.
