About the Mattapoisett Santa Stampede
The course starts and ends at the Town Wharf, loops out to Ned's Point Lighthouse, and follows the harbor on the way back. The route is a single loop with two legs, so the scenery changes depending on which direction you are moving. Nearly everyone runs it dressed as Santa, which makes the field look unlike almost any other road race.
Bibs and Santa suits are available at a pickup event the evening before the race, with a location sent out by email beforehand. Race-morning pickup is also available at the start, but volunteers are running too, so the window closes before the gun goes off. Several parking lots surround the Town Wharf area, including lots at the beach and along Depot Street, all close enough to walk to the start.
