About the Massachusetts Run For The Fallen 5K
The course is lined with markers honoring fallen Massachusetts service members, so the run itself carries a weight that most races do not. Participants can run, walk, or ruck, and the presence of those tribute markers along the route gives the morning a tone that is more memorial than athletic event.
Before the race begins, there is a name reading ceremony for fallen heroes. Afterward, the gathering continues with a post-race barbecue and family activities, including military vehicles on display. Bib pickup runs through the morning before the ceremony, so there is no need to collect it the day before.
