About the Martha's Village & Kitchen 20th Annual Thanksgiving Day 5K
The course runs along El Paseo, a well-known shopping and dining street in Palm Desert. It is a road race, so the surface is smooth and the route is essentially flat. The race raises money for a local organization working on hunger and homelessness in the area, and that purpose draws a big crowd on Thanksgiving morning.
Packet pickup runs the two days before the race at a pre-announced location, with a backup option on race morning, though the organizers are clear that waiting until race day carries some risk. The start is at a named intersection on El Paseo. A live DJ and stage are set up at the finish, and awards follow shortly after the last runners come in.
