About the Mardi Gras Madness - Fort Worth

The race runs through Cravens Park dressed up as a Mardi Gras parade. Aid stations double as street parties, with volunteers tossing beads in purple, green, and gold. A costume contest happens at the start line, with the crowd picking the winner by volume of cheers. The overall winners in the longer distances take home a Bigfoot Trophy rather than a standard award.

Packet pickup opens before the race start. After you finish, a Race Rally Tent keeps things going with a DJ, snacks, and a live awards ceremony. The overall feel is closer to a second line parade than a typical morning road race.

Common Questions About the Mardi Gras Madness - Fort Worth

Will I finish last at the Mardi Gras Madness - Fort Worth?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.11 Miles field finished slower than 34:43, and the last recorded finisher came in around 58:14, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Mardi Gras Madness - Fort Worth a good first 3.11 Miles?

It is a small race (137 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.11 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Mardi Gras Madness - Fort Worth?

The 3.11 Miles winner ran 20:22 while the median finisher took 34:43. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
