About the Madison Central DanceBlue For The Kids 5K

The course runs through White Hall Park on fully paved trail. It is a smooth surface throughout, which makes the footing easy and the pace predictable. The park setting keeps things shaded and quiet, away from traffic, and the route is accurately measured by a timing company that handles race management on the day.

Packet pickup happens race morning, so there is no need to make a separate trip beforehand. There is food, drink, and music at the finish. The race benefits a student-run charity initiative through Madison Central, and team entry is an option if you want to run with a group.

Common Questions About the Madison Central DanceBlue For The Kids 5K

Will I finish last at the Madison Central DanceBlue For The Kids 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 49:35, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:03:14, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Madison Central DanceBlue For The Kids 5K a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (50 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Madison Central DanceBlue For The Kids 5K?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 18:41 while the median finisher took 49:35. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
