About the Lowell Labor Day Weekend 5K

This is a road race through Lowell that benefits a local education foundation, with a course open to runners and walkers. The organizer is the Calumet Region Striders, a local running club, and the race draws a broad range of participants across age divisions including masters, Athena, and Clydesdale categories. Awards go out right after the last finisher crosses.

Registration opens the morning of the race, and parking and restrooms are on site. The Calumet Region Striders have a tent where you can drop off used running and walking shoes as a donation. Door prizes are drawn after the race, and you need to be present to collect.

Common Questions About the Lowell Labor Day Weekend 5K

Will I finish last at the Lowell Labor Day Weekend 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 30:49, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:07:03, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Lowell Labor Day Weekend 5K a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (141 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Lowell Labor Day Weekend 5K?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 17:35 while the median finisher took 30:49. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
