About the Louisburg Cider Run

The course rolls through the countryside outside Louisburg, mixing open straightaways with enough hills to keep things honest. The organizers describe it as a route full of surprises, and the dusk start time gives the whole thing a different feel from a typical weekend morning race.

Packet pickup happens twice before race day: one option at a local bank the evening before, and another on race day itself inside a hall at the festival grounds, where setup is already underway by early afternoon.

Common Questions About the Louisburg Cider Run

Will I finish last at the Louisburg Cider Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 39:40, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:04:33, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Louisburg Cider Run a good first 5K?

It is a small race (192 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Louisburg Cider Run?

The 5K winner ran 17:05 while the median finisher took 39:40. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
