About the LMCU Bridge Run

The route earns its name. Both courses cross multiple bridges over the Grand River as they move through downtown Grand Rapids, and the longer option continues out through a riverside park before looping back. The bridges themselves are the real character of this course, not just decoration, and the historic bridge at the start sets the tone early.

Bib pickup happens the day before at a baseball ballpark, where a kids' dash is also taking place that morning. The start line is on the west side of that same bridge, with aid stations placed along both courses and live bands spread across the route and at the finish.

Common Questions About the LMCU Bridge Run

Will I finish last at the LMCU Bridge Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 34:33, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:19:45, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the LMCU Bridge Run a good first 3.1 Miles?

With 1,287 finishers there are runners at every pace, so you are never out on your own. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the LMCU Bridge Run?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 14:37 while the median finisher took 34:33. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
